Sign of the voltage
- Again consider the loop at the right.
- flux through loop changes
- \ emf induced in loop opposing initial direction of current flow
this emf causes V(a) > V(b) can we prove this?
- sense of emf integral is clockwise
- the magnetic flux is increasing, and emf = - dF/dt
- the emf from a to b is negative, pointing like the little arrows do
- this means that V(a) is at a higher potential than V(b)
Actually, just use Lenz’s Law
emf develops to oppose flux change
